WDS Green Energy Ltd specialises in the design, supply & installation of heat pump systems. From our base in South Wales, we have carried out over 1,500 heat pump installations throughout Wales and England. We are experts in air and ground source heat pumps and underfloor heating systems, specialising in working directly with homeowners, builders and architects on existing properties, renovations, conversions & new builds. We are looking for an enthusiastic, organised and technically minded Assistant Heat Pump System Design Engineer to join our team and support the delivery of energy-efficient projects.
Role Overview:
As an Assistant Heat Pump System Design Engineer, you will work closely with our experienced design team, providing vital support in the design and specification of heat pump systems. This role is ideal for a technically capable and organised individual looking to build a career in renewable energy engineering. No previous industry experience is required, but a strong foundation in engineering principles, problem-solving, and teamwork is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the design team in creating heat pump system layouts and specifications.
- Assist with heat loss calculations, energy assessments, and system sizing.
- Help prepare technical documentation, reports, and drawings.
- Participate in internal project meetings and liaise with team members and stakeholders.
- Manage and prioritise tasks effectively to meet project deadlines.
- Learn and apply relevant standards, regulations, and best practices.
- Contribute to ongoing improvements in design processes and tools.
Skills & Attributes:
Required:
- Educational Background: A degree or HND/HNC in Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Building Services, or a related field (or in progress).
- Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal.
- Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
- Organisational Skills: Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively, react and adapt to enquiries.
- Technical Knowledge: Willingness to learn and develop technical skills in heat pump system design.
- Software: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Desired:
- Familiarity with CAD software
- Interest related to heat pumps or renewable energy systems.
- Understanding of basic heating system principles.
